“Dear PoPville,
Just noticed one of the owners of Taylor Gourmet in photo with trump this morning. Not cool! We need the local D.C. Businesses to support positive things.”
Time Magazine reported:
“President Donald Trump has signed an executive action aimed at significantly cutting regulations for small businesses.
The president was surrounded by small business leaders as he signed the order in the Oval Office Monday morning.”
You can see a EPA press photo here. “U.S. President Donald J. Trump (L) shakes hands with Casey Patten (R), the co-founder of Taylor Gourmet, during a meeting with small business leaders in the Roosevelt Room of the White House in Washington, DC, USA, 30 January 2017.”
“HAZY MOON: Homemade, oven-roasted turkey meets pickled daikon and carrots and an Asian-inspired ginger scallion aioli for an international flavor bomb. Don’t miss it.”

It’s funny to look back at the sign Taylor first posted about the closure back in August:
“We’re closing shop for a few weeks for a quick fix up…”
From an email:
“Fight For Children, a Washington, DC-based nonprofit that works to create and improve quality early childhood education experiences and opportunities for students from low-income communities in the DC metro area, announced today a week-long partnership with Taylor Gourmet. In an effort to raise awareness for the importance of Early Childhood Education, and the significance of Fight For Children’s work, Taylor Gourmet will launch a one-of-a-kind hoagie dubbed the “Champ for Children.” The Champ-for-Children hoagie is the creation of Celebrated Chef and DC restaurateur Katsuya Fukushima, and will be available at all Taylor Gourmet locations from October 3 – 9, 2016.
Taylor Gourmet will be donating 100% of the proceeds from the sale of the hoagie to Fight For Children.

Ed. Note: I am aware that not everyone likes Taylor Gourmet. But there are many others who do like them. Alas there is good news – you are under no obligation to eat there! Apologies for not making that clear last time. Having said all that – I do enjoy the debates over the quality of the bread.

A reader reports:
“Taylor Gourmet tried to remodel their restaurant based on a simple post card permit and without structural drawings. The store is still closed with the stop work order issued and will likely not open for another six months.”
Stop work order was issued August 4th:

Thanks to a reader for sending. The OG Taylor opened up back in November 2008 so their Bush claims are a slight stretch but technically true so I’ll allow it…
Updates when they get closer to reopening:
