Scuttlebutt is replacing the sidewalks and benches (which are already removed), we’ll see…”
Ed. Note: Presumably the benches will be refurbished and reinstalled as part of the refresh? That would be insane if they permanently removed the benches…
Other readers reported yesterday: “All the benches were removed from Logan Circle this morning. Any idea why they took them?” (more…)
To the kind people who helped me near Turkey Thicket at 10th and Randolph on January 19th!
I’ve been wanting to write this note for quite some time, but was at a loss for words and now I am hoping it reaches you.
On January 19th it was just another day but unfortunately, I took a pretty serious fall. It happened in slow motion and before I knew it, I hit the cement head first, disoriented, and honestly a bit scared. I ended up with facial lacerations (25 stitches to be exact), two black eyes, a concussion, and a bruised ego to go along with it. It wasn’t my finest moment.
What I remember most, though, is not just the fall, but all of you.
You didn’t walk past. You didn’t hesitate to help. You came over, asked my name, and told me that everything would be okay. More than that, you stayed with me. You kept me company, looked out for me, and made sure I wasn’t alone while I waited for help to arrive. To my family and me that meant more than I can really put into words. Staying with someone in a moment like that—when they’re hurt, vulnerable, and unsure of what’s happening, takes real kindness and empathy.
You were there with me until I was transported by ambulance, and I will never forget that.(more…)
18th Street Singers presents Out of Many, One, a concert exploring the complexity, challenges, and possibilities of the American experience through a rich tapestry of choral music. Centered around Randall Thompson’s The Peaceable Kingdom, the program features music that reflects the breadth of the American experience, drawing from spirituals, folk traditions, and choral masterworks alongside contemporary voices redefining the genre today.
In this 250th anniversary year of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, Out of Many, One reflects on the many voices, stories, and identities that shape our nation and invites audiences to imagine a more just, inclusive, and compassionate future.
Dayglow was born out of our love and curiosity of interesting coffee roasters, both internationally and domestically. As we discovered roasters we made their coffees available to our customers—first at our locations and then online.
As we made our coffees available online—both as single purchases and in subscription models—we didn’t want to be just another company pushing coffee. We wanted what we made available for purchase to be coffees that we enjoyed personally and served at our locations. We also wanted to democratize the coffee selection process. There are really great coffee roasters all over the globe. Some are well known with sexy branding and packaging, others not so much. Those distinctions are not what make for a great cup of coffee.
At a craft coffee store, your coffee selections are curated by the coffee experts and made based on notes.”
