In politics, we all know that sometimes your side wins, and sometimes your side loses. That’s the nature of democracy. The incoming president holds deeply different views and values from mine, and I believe his leadership could harm the people and institutions I love and respect. Frankly, I would rather be anywhere else on Inauguration Day, which coincides with the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.

I purchased two pick-your-own-amount gift cards in December at the H St NE Giant and loaded them in store. The recipients just notified me that when they opened their (sealed) packaging, the numbers on the cards had been scratched off. (more…)
