DC Attorney General “Sues Dangerous Maryland Driver Who Owes $187,000 in Tickets & Four Dangerous Virginia Drivers Who Amasses 800+ Traffic Violations”

“Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb today announced five new lawsuits seeking to hold drivers accountable for repeated dangerous and illegal conduct on DC streets—including one lawsuit against a Maryland driver who accumulated over 300 speeding tickets in just two years—and four lawsuits against Virginia drivers who have amassed more than 800 DC traffic citations for speeding, running stop signs and red lights, and various other moving infractions. In total, the five defendants owe the District $425,000 in unpaid fines, penalties, and fees. “Missed Connection: Looking to redeem $1 voucher found in Easter Egg in P Street Beach”

“Dear PoPville,

I was with my dog at a very overgrown P Street Beach in Dupont on Thursday afternoon when I spotted something blue and shiny in the jungle-like grass. At first I thought it was a ball that I could rehome for my dog (not that he needs more toys), but upon picking up the egg-shaped object, I realized it was, in fact, an egg.

I opened the egg to find the following voucher, redeemable for $1. As you might imagine, this was incredibly exciting. President Trump is bound and determined to tank the global economy, but here some kind soul is giving out free dollar bills in eggs. There was just one problem: I have no way to redeem this voucher.

Looking on the back of the voucher only further confused me, as there seemed to be some sort of secret code that I presumably am supposed to use to find the hider of the egg and retrieve my $1. The only trouble is, I never took a code decoding class in school and haven’t seen National Treasure in years, so I’m at a bit of a loss. (more…)

Top 5 and Climbing: Local Child Needs Votes to Reach #1 in Jr. Ranger Contest Group Phase

Local rising kindergartener, Phin, has advanced to the Top 5 in his group in the national Jr. Ranger Contest, a competition that celebrates children who are passionate about nature, wildlife, and exploration. After making it through earlier rounds with strong family and friend support, Phin is now in 4th place and working toward the top spot needed to move on to the quarterfinals.

The contest encourages kids to engage with the outdoors and highlights their curiosity and love for learning about the natural world. For Phin and his family, this experience has been both exciting and meaningful, made even more special by the encouragement from friends, neighbors, and the broader community.
