“Dear PoPville,
Last night around 10:30 PM a vehicle was reportedly speeding while chased by federal law enforcement, hit a speed bump and flipped over on Webster St NW between 2nd St NW and Rock Creek Church Rd NW. We could hear a lot of helicopters overhead and saw a lot of non MPD on the scene so I grabbed my dog and went to get a closer look.
There were at least more than a dozen law enforcement vehicles with their lights on parked along RCC Rd and Webster, some blocking the street. A group of agents, mostly US Park Police were gathered in the middle of the street. Some officers had HSI and FBI on their uniforms or vests. US Park Police questioned a few of us about vehicles parked along the street that had been hit.
We were told that no one had been hurt and I overheard that the driver had fled on foot and a passenger was in the DC Fire EMS vehicle parked in the street. Allegedly the vehicle was stolen. When it departed they didn’t turn on sirens and quietly backed out of the street.

The two white vans in the photo were both hit during the incident and I spoke to the owner of one who was brother to owner of the other van. His brother was out of the country. He was waiting for the case number from US Park Police. Another red vehicle was hit and its owner had yet to be identified.
One of my neighbors messaged me:
“So instead of 1 stolen vehicle we have 1 totaled vehicle, another damaged, risked the lives of everyone on the streets of the chase, deployed all these officers and equipment ($$$), and still may not get the suspect. Seems worth it.”
