The Pepco outage map currently lists Active Outages as 23 with Total Customers Affected 377.

Update: 5pm: “[AlertDC] PEPCO reports the utility repairs are complete and power has been restored to the affected customers in the northwest area of the District of Columbia.”

Update: “[AlertDC] PEPCO reports a power outage in the northwest area of the District of Columbia, near Dupont Circle, affecting approximately 1,729 customers. The cause of the outage is under evaluation with an undetermined time for restoration. Customers with questions may contact PEPCO on 1-877-737-2662.”

“We’re sorry many of you have been by power outages on and off since Thursday morning. ANC 2B has been in constant contact with PEPCO, Mayor Bowser’s office, and Councilmember Pinto’s office. We’ve heard from many people that they are not receiving communications from PEPCO or DC government on this matter, leaving you literally and figuratively in the dark.

Local rising kindergartener, Phin, has advanced to the Top 5 in his group in the national Jr. Ranger Contest, a competition that celebrates children who are passionate about nature, wildlife, and exploration. After making it through earlier rounds with strong family and friend support, Phin is now in 4th place and working toward the top spot needed to move on to the quarterfinals.

The contest encourages kids to engage with the outdoors and highlights their curiosity and love for learning about the natural world. For Phin and his family, this experience has been both exciting and meaningful, made even more special by the encouragement from friends, neighbors, and the broader community.


Event

To celebrate DC native Haili Blassingame’s debut novel, THEY ALL FALL IN LOVE AT THE END, Lost City Books is throwing a launch party themed around messy love stories. Haili, and a crew of writers she has assembled, will read excerpts from their work, but there will also be audience participation in the form of anonymously submitting messy dating stories. It’s going to be a night of laughter, of gasps, of books, of great company. Refreshments will be available. We can’t wait to see you there!

“Chief of Police Pamela A. Smith has announced the establishment of a Juvenile Curfew Zone in the U Street corridor.

The Juvenile Curfew Emergency Amendment Act of 2025 gives the Chief of the Metropolitan Police Department the authority to order a Juvenile Curfew Zone in an area where large groups of youths are gathering or intend to gather in a manner that poses a risk of substantial harm to public safety.

When NoMa BID and its sister organization, the NoMa Parks Foundation, partnered with the District government to design and build Alethia Tanner Park, the plans included a purpose-built structure in the southwest corner of the park — designed specifically to host a future food and beverage operator that would bring convenient, healthy dining options to the community. OK first the hype for Bar Cana (pictured above) is for real. It is legit. There is a reason it’s difficult to get a seat. It’s worth the wait. Yo! The food is so ridiculously good. Honestly, and I’m a drinker, the food blew me away. Having said that, the drinks were damn good too. Loving the Brazilian vibe. My goodness. The music. The people. The staff. Ah man, I love when good spots meet the hype. Only drawback is it’s a bit on the pricey side but what isn’t these days.
