Animal Fix

If you have any animal/pet photos you’d like to share for the regular fix please send an email to princeofpetworth(at)gmail(dot)com with ‘Animal Fix’ in the title and say the name of your pet and your neighborhood. AdoPtville is run by two volunteers who compile these pets weekly from local shelters.

In light of the heated discussion the other day regarding community cats and those who care for them, please check out the Humane Rescue Alliance’s resources on community cats to learn about what can be done for them and the neighborhoods in which they live. In particular, please consider supporting their CatNiPP program, which works to reduce the population of homeless cats in DC through spaying and neutering.

This week’s Adoptables come from the Humane Rescue Alliance and feature a cat that has been helped through the CatNiPP program.

Hi – I’m Punchie! I’m a happy go lucky kind of guy. I really like chin, cheek and head scratches and have excellent litter box manners. And I enjoy my mealtimes too! I’m a sweet 6 year old cat, looking for a loving home to call my own!

For more more info or to meet me contact [email protected]. As an added bonus, if you’re over 50, my adoption fee is waived as part of the Boomer’s Buddies program! Standard adoption procedures apply. Learn more here.

Baby Yoda is neither a baby nor a Yoda, but he sure is a sweet old man (12 years old!)! Baby Yoda (Boda for short) is a good boy and has made many gains in his foster home. When he arrived as a stray to the shelter he was in terrible shape but with lots of love and medical care he is rebounding and is now ready for adoption. Boda loves his meals and is always eager for a treat. He does well with super mellow dogs and cats.

If you would like more information about this cutie please contact his foster mom at [email protected]. As an added bonus, if you’re over 50, the adoption fee is waived as part of the Boomer’s Buddies program! Standard adoption procedures apply. Learn more here.

Thanks to Sam for sending:

“This sign’s being installed today at the lot at First and Pierce Streets NE, which has been used as a NoMa community hub (including for summer movie screenings and as a sometimes illicit dog park) for the last few years. Looks like the party’s ending in a couple weeks.”

“They are hosing blood off of the sidewalk rn”

The DC Chamber Musicians close out the 25-26 season with popular works by Brahms and Dohnanyi, and three selections of newer works that are sure to delight. All set in the lovely St. Thomas’ Parish Episcopal Church in the Dupont Circle neighborhood. Join us afterward for a reception featuring light refreshments (including beer and wine) and an opportunity to chat with the musicians.

Dear PoPville

“Dear PoPville,

In November, I got a new job out of state that I started in January. My family has been renting a great home in Manor Park since August 2015 and our lease is slated to end at the end of July 2020. When we inquired with our property management company about our options they said we could 1) market and show the property ourselves and if we found new tenants the penalty would only be the loss of a portion of our deposit, or 2) have the property management company market the property, which would require a 60 day notice to vacate (read: two additional months rent) and the loss of our entire deposit. The property management company recommended that we go with option one, which made sense to us.

Flash forward to mid-February. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Duet has been closed since the fire in December and I noticed today that the sign had been replaced. Looks like an outpost of Masala Art. Hope they can make it work, though I miss Toscana!”
