“Dear PoPville,

That stretch is so scary for pedestrians/cyclists (and even as a motorist when crossing Michigan). Cars come really flying down that hill. And the metro station and Turkey Thicket are right there, so lots of folks on foot. They need to do some real rethinking that road to make it safe.”

Update from MPD:

“Detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating a traffic fatality resulting from a traffic crash that occurred on Monday, March 1, 2021, at the intersection of 10th Street and Michigan Avenue, Northeast.

Preliminary investigation revealed that at approximately 11:07 am, a bicyclist was traveling southbound on 10th Street, Northeast, crossing from the north to south side of Michigan Avenue, Northeast, in a marked crosswalk. Concurrently, the operator of a 2017 Ford Bus made a left turn from 10th Street to Michigan Avenue, Northeast, and struck the bicyclist. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I was walking my puppy with my friend at the Washington Monument Friday (2/26) around 4pm and a cute guy came up to us with his white terrier pup Benji. My dog was petrified but Benji was adorable and so sweet. If you’re the 6 foot-ish., blonde man that was wearing a blue jacket I’d love to meet up again w our pups!”
