Was doing a bunch of strength exercises on Sunday (today!) around 3pm at the Rock Creek Trail Exercise area near Beach and Shoreham (the grassy area with the exercise stuff down the hill behind the Omni Shoreham) and there was a dreamy and fit dark haired guy doing the same (and an impressive amount of push-ups!). “Dear PoPville,
I went to a historical talk recently and the speaker mentioned that the DC Recorder of Deeds records have been digitized going back to 1921 and are available online. So when I got home I went to the site and looked up my house (Palisades). In a deed from 1936 I found the following language: (more…)
At some point a lot of guys realize they don’t really have a friend group anymore.
Not in a dramatic way. Friends move away, people get busy, and actually seeing the same guys regularly almost never happens.

“Dear PoPville,
Has anyone sent in their passport for renewal recently? I know the state department is backed up, hence why I want to send things along ASAP. However, across the city we’ve seen issues with USPS (arriving late, never arriving/stolen mail, low staffing) and I’m nervous about my passport getting lost in the mail. Any recent experience and advice would be greatly appreciated!”

You know this. I know you know this. A reminder never hurts. Should you happen to spot this bike please email me at [email protected] and I’ll poss on to OP.
“Dear PoPville,
I had my priority continuum onyx stolen last night on the 700 block of Park Road NW (Park View). It was in our backyard (behind our 9 ft tall fence!) hidden behind our cars. Someone had to see into our backyard well enough to 1) jump the fence, 2) get it back over the 9 ft tall fence, and 3) navigate the small pond we have back there (which looks like they got pretty wet). Thanks to a reader for passing on this note they received from Spin scooters:
“Starting October 1, DC law will require all riders to lock scooters to a bike rack, sign post, or bike/scooter corral after use. To start a ride, scan the QR code on the handlebar to release the lock.
At the end of your ride, use the Spin app to find the nearest parking location. Then, lock your scooter and take a parking verification photo when prompted. Avoid blocking sidewalks, building entrances, driveways, ADA access ramps, and parking spots.
Scooters may NOT be locked to: (more…)

From The Mayor’s Office:
“Mayor Muriel Bowser signed a Mayor’s Order requiring that by November 1, 2021 all adults who are regularly in schools and child care centers facilities in the District must be vaccinated against COVID-19. The Order further requires that, beginning November 1, 2021, students aged 12 and older must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 in order to participate in school-based extracurricular athletics.
“We know that vaccinations are the most effective tool to slow the spread of COVID-19 and protect children who are not yet eligible to receive the vaccine,” said Mayor Bowser. “This new mandate requirement, without a test-out option, will add another critical layer to the robust measures we have implemented to reopen our schools and keep our child care centers safe. We also know that sports are a high-risk activity. Requiring athletes to get vaccinated will ensure they not only stay safe, but also stay in the classroom and are able to participate in school-based extracurricular athletics.”
The vaccination requirements apply to all employees, contractors, interns, and volunteers working in person in a: (more…)
