Since 1963, Clyde’s Restaurant Group has been a staple in the Washington dining scene. What started as a single bar on M Street is now a family of over a dozen distinctive properties across DC, Maryland, and Northern Virginia including Old Ebbitt Grill, The Hamilton, Rye Street Tavern, Cordelia Fishbar, 1789 Restaurant, The Tombs, Fitzgerald’s, and six Clyde’s locations. Each has its own personality while all share the same commitment to warm, polished hospitality. With Ebbitt House opening soon in Reston, the story keeps going.

Well this is REALLY awesome. Thanks to K Love for writing when we posted about the Biergarten Haus find: “This is my family’s old house and shoe store (later a 5&10).

I’ve also attached a photo of the building in an earlier iteration, when my great grandpa had a shoe store there (not sure the date on the photo, but my family was in the building from 1911 on).

When I was looking thru pics to find you an older one, I realized my family has a bunch of photos of H street back in the day (undated, sorry!). Thought you might like to see some of my favorites.”
