“Dear PoPville,

an incident that occurred just before/around 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Rhode Island Avenue Metro. My nanny’s father was crossing the street and was struck by a motorcycle in the crosswalk. The motorcyclist got off his bike, helped my nanny’s father up and then took off. My nanny’s father sustained some injuries. I am looking for any eyewitnesses to the incident or camera/video footage of the incident.”

Anyone with info/footage can email me at [email protected] and I’ll put you in touch with OP.

“Dear PoPville,

Can you help me find anyone who may have info about my mother in laws hit and run which happened, Saturday (7/23), around noon. We’re hoping to find someone that saw the vehicle or would have doorbell cam footage of the car going past their house.

She was walking through the intersection at North Carolina and 8th St SE when someone ran a red light, hit her, and sped off. It happened around 11:45am-12pm. Read More

From the National Park Service:

“The National Park Service has completed the Environmental Assessment for the future management of Beach Drive in Rock Creek Park.

To improve recreational opportunities, minimize impacts to natural and historic resources, and address the needs of people who drive and those who use non-motorized transportation, we are proposing to close the upper portion of Beach Drive NW to motorized vehicles from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day every year.
The NPS will hold a public meeting on this proposal on July 18 at 6:30pm. The public is invited to review the Environmental Assessment and share comments and questions through August 11.”

“Dear PoPville,

Around 9am this morning, my husband and I were dropping our son off at daycare when we noticed one of the owners running out onto Bladensburg Rd. It was then that we realized he was attempting to help an elderly woman who was struck in the crosswalk across Bladensburg Rd. NE at the intersection of Oates/K St. NE. Since we happened upon the scene shortly after it occurred, it was unclear how the hit occurred. There was a white SUV that pulled over and the driver was out helping, but I can’t be sure that is the car that struck the woman. Several passersby and drivers stopped their cars to shield the woman on the ground and we saw emergency response heading that way shortly after. She was conscious when we saw her.

The hit and run accident I also mentioned (in a tweet) occurred on March 21 on Oates St. NE. Read More

Thanks to Ketti for sharing. Unfortunately the link in the poster is not currently active but I did come across this interesting historical tidbit that I never knew:

“Hains Point is named for the US Army Corps of Engineers’ Peter Conover Hains, the engineer who designed the Tidal Basin. Here, the Potomac River, Washington Channel, and Anacostia River all converge.”

Will post again on April 19th when more info on the designs are released.
