The loved/hated no pants metro ride was yesterday. The annual event is hosted by Capitol Improv:
“We do understand that is is hard to avoid dancing when you have No Pants, but we do encourage participants to maintain the original spirit of the event, and act as if your missing pants had nothing to do with No Pants day, such as simply forgetting your pants at home, no pants is a new fashion trend, or our personal favorite, “My dog ate my pants”.
Make sure you have a place to keep your pants on your person and hidden, like a bag or backpack.
Also – if any figure of authority tells you to put your pants back on, do as they say. Unfortunately, indecency laws are entirely subjective and while we haven’t had any major problems in the past, we’d like to keep on DC Metro’s good side so the event can continue for another year. Let’s make our 8th No Pants year the best for DC!”
Ed. Note: Those who wish to equate taking photos of this event with the creepy guy who takes photos of the underpants of unsuspecting women and teens and then posts them to a porn site – don’t – it’s completely different.

Just after 8:20pm @burgessev tweeted the above accident on H Street, NE just east of 14th Street. This follows this weekend’s streetcar involved accident at 6th and H St, NE. Updates when more info is known particularly if these recent incidents push passenger service past the anticipated launch during the week of Jan. 19th.

Around 11:15pm Tuesday night power was finally restored to Dupont/Logan/14th after many delays. It’ll be interesting to see the after action report on this and more importantly lessons learned. In the meantime thanks to all who updates us on twitter via email. The good word started to spread around 11:15pm:

It will take about one hour — until approximately 7 a.m. — before normal weekday service is restored. Customers should allow additional time as buses resume normal operations.
Buses are expected to operate on normal routing. Any unplanned detours or delays will be announced on wmata.com, via MetroAlerts and Twitter.”

From WMATA:
“Due to current weather and road conditions, Metrobus service is operating on a “moderate” snow service plan, meaning that many Metrobus routes are only operating on major roadways to keep buses off of hilly terrain, narrow side streets and other problem areas.
METROBUS MODERATE SNOW PLAN: CLICK FOR DETAILS AND MAPS
Bus service is experiencing delays due to weather road conditions. Please allow additional time and use extreme caution when traveling. For your safety, never stand in the roadway while waiting for a bus. For delay and detour information affecting individual routes, check the bus alerts page or sign up for MetroAlerts.”
Update 2:40pm:
“In the interest of safety given current road conditions, all Metrobus service will continue operating on a “moderate snow plan” for the remainder of the service day. Under the moderate snow plan, service is provided along most major arteries; however, some Metrobus routes do not operate and others are detoured to keep buses off of hilly terrain, narrow side streets and other problem areas.”
