“Uprising Muffin Company in Shaw is launching the “El Diablo Upwich” today….just in time for Cinco de Mayo!!

“Two spicy Mexican chocolate muffin tops with Trickling Springs organic vanilla bean ice cream “sandwiched” between them.”

All of Uprising’s Muffins have 10 ingredients or less. One of those ten in the “El Diabo” is Cayenne Pepper that is mixed into the chocolate batter giving it a little bit of heat, with the vanilla ice cream to cool!

The El Diablo is here through summer as well as the original Upwich: chocolate chip muffin tops with vanilla ice cream.”

Last week we learned that All Purpose Pizza was hiring and would likely be opening soon. Turns out to be very soon – if all goes well they should be open early next week. I was able to peek inside and while the space was finished yet, you can get a good feel of how things are turning out. This is the new spot from the owners of Red Hen and Boundary Stone. Updates when we have an exact opening date.

Very high up on my eagerly anticipated openings!! Our last update was almost a year ago when we they posted their liquor license placard:

“A fast food casual and café style restaurant with bar which shall serve pizza and Italian food with 94 seats and total occupancy load of 125. Sidewalk Café with 16 seats.”

Now they’re almost ready and hiring. They’re located right next door to Espita Mezcaleria who opened last month at 9th and N St, NW. Stay tuned for an exact opening date for All Purpose Pizzeria soon.
