Stabbing at 13th and S St, NW at 9:45pm – Suspect Arrested

“On May 16, 2016, at approximately 9:45 pm., Third District officers were in the 1300 block of S St. N.W. when they heard a commotion in the block. The officers investigated and found a victim suffering from multiple lacerations. The officers were able to apprehend the suspect and placed the suspect under arrest. My gratitude is extended to the officers that were exactly where they needed to be at the appropriate moment for the sake of the victim, the suspect, and the neighboring citizens.

All-Purpose Opens Tonight in Shaw

“Michael Friedman, Michael O’Malley and Sebastian Zutant, co-owners of The Red Hen, have partnered with Gareth Croke and Colin McDonough, co-owners of Boundary Stone to open All-Purpose. The restaurant, now open at 1250 9th Street, NW in the revitalized Shaw neighborhood, offers 90 restaurant seats along with a 15-seat bar, and features a straightforward Roman menu accented with Italian-American classics in a casual and convivial 2,500 square-foot space.

Pizza is the heart of Chef Friedman’s food program at All-Purpose. He has created a distinctive dough for the restaurant that captures the “breadier” qualities of the old school deck oven pizzas of his youth. The crust, which is used for all of the pies at All-Purpose, offers a rustic, chewy texture and is caramel in color due in part to the cooking process as well as the high amount of whole wheat flour. Of the six pizzas that are now offered at All-Purpose, Chef Friedman anticipates the Cossimo, named after one of his favorite Jersey Italian haunts, topped with roasted mushrooms, Tallegio, scallions, preserved truffle sauce and grana will become the fan favorite. “Cava Grill is thrilled to announce a fall 2016 opening in Shaw’s hip epicenter at The Shay building. The 2,500 square foot space will place focus on the local community with art and lifestyle events hosted throughout the year.”

Thanks to all who emailed about the coming soon signage. Based on the number of emails I received this spot is going to be very, very popular.
