“Ashok Bajaj is pleased to announce Knightsbridge Restaurant Group’s new concept replacing Bibiana Osteria-Enoteca at 1100 New York Ave, NW, (entrance on 12th and H Streets), in the heart of downtown Washington. On September 9, Modena will open with an entirely new menu created by recently appointed Executive Chef John Melfi who is returning to Knightsbridge Restaurant Group.
Bibiana will close August 31. The restaurant will undergo a refresh with a new color scheme, new artwork and the addition of planters filled with greenery. Melfi’s new menu will showcase Italian-influenced seasonal cuisine driven by sustainable, locally sourced ingredients. One can look forward to exploring the new antipasti trolley from Italy and dining on vintage china made by Villeroy and Bosch. (more…)

“Today at approximately 11:30am, 2D units received a call for service for a domestic assault near the intersection of 17th and L Streets, NW. Shortly after arriving, an adult male suspect ran from officers and there were reports that he was armed with a handgun. The suspect ran into an office building that was under construction in the 1700 block of L Street, NW where he was stopped a short time later. The suspect was placed under arrest by 2D officers without incident.
Just to be clear, there was no active shooter nor was anyone shot during this incident. The female victim was treated on the scene by an ambulance and did not have visible injuries. If you were a witness to this incident or have information you would like provide, please call our Command Information Center at (202) 727-9099 or text to 50411.

Just heard from one of the servers that Maison Kayser is closing their two DC locations at the end of next week. I think they have a lot of fans out there so I wanted to spread the word so folks might stop by before they close their doors! they were expensive but I thought their bread/pastries were pretty top notch.” (more…)
