Bethany Kazaba, Co-Founder and Principal of Neighborhood Retail Group secured the new location which seats approximately 67 guests with an additional 24 seats outside as well as offers an Edomae Ginza-style chef’s table in which Chef Yoshi will create custom dishes based on guest’s preferences–the way sushi and sashimi are traditionally served in Japan.
Followers of Chef Yoshi know him from his successful Bethesda, MD restaurant, Yuzu Japanese Dining. Chef Yoshi has practiced the art of sushi making in the United States and Japan for more than 30 years and is known for starting his culinary career at the prestigious ANA Hotel restaurant in Tokyo.”

Courtesy Nino’s Bakery
From Nino’s Bakery owner Miranda Rinaldi:
“Nino’s Bakery will be opening this fall 2017 at 1310 L St NW. Steps from Franklin Square, we encourage our neighbors to take a break from the office and indulge in the simple elegance of artisan pastries and chocolates made from scratch.
Nino’s Bakery is named after the owner’s dachshund whom she adopted while living in Italy. During his years in Milan, Nino attempted to enter every bakery in the city in his search for pastries. Now that he has come to America, Nino is finally getting his own bakery, which sadly he still cannot enter. So give yourself a moment of bliss and enjoy a pastry for Nino.”
STAY TUNED.

Last week on Instagram (thanks to @caitylovesjames for tagging us in this great shot) I was lamenting CityCenter’s prices while admiring their style:
Turns out they got something I can afford – free putt putt!! Sweet. The course from City Golf is set up at 10th and I Street, NW across from Momofuku. You can register for a tournament Thursday here. Otherwise the course will remain open until July 2nd. Hours are 11am – 7pm. When I passed it on Saturday there was only one other group playing.

1909 K Street, NW
Thanks to all who emailed. Amanda reports:
“It appears that the 19th street wave of closures has spilled over to K st. Cities (formally LOOK, the rumored Icelandic restaurant) has closed. Cities was located on K st NW in between 19th and 20th st.”
Cities’ website is still active so we’ll see if this is a refresh or if a new restaurant is coming. Since their phone number is disconnected and they haven’t tweeted since March 14th I’d guess that latter. Stay tuned.
