“On Friday 2/24 around 6:15 pm a couple of blocks on Quincy St NW were blocked off between 9th and 10th St for what looked like an intense crime scene investigation. I was running up 10th and spoke briefly to an officer to make sure I could get into my apartment building, and he said that they were doing an investigation and that he bet I’d “see it on the news later.” An hour or so later I walked my dog down the street and the crime scene area had been reduced to a part of Quincy, an alley, and one home nearby. The officers were taking pictures of the street, and I noticed blood spatter in the cross walk at Quincy and 10th. Despite what the officer said, I haven’t seen anything anywhere in the news about what happened. Does anyone know? Hopefully the victim is ok.”

“I was walking the dog down Quincy and MPD were with a male with blood all down his arm next to a bike on the ground. I asked the Fire/EMS guy if he just had a bad crash and he told me he was stabbed. There was a trail of blood from down 10th so not sure where it actually happened but Quincy between 9th and 10th is closed down by MPD where he was sitting before the ambulance came. Just when I felt like nothing had happened in Petworth lately! I should add the guy got himself up and walked into the ambulance so I am hopeful he will be okay.”

Last week, Good Deal or Not Revisited reviewed the settled sale in Eckington of a lower level duplex condo units converted from a previous single family home. (You can see that post here.) In relation to that post, Commenter JS wrote: “I think there’s a little bit of a bubble bursting in these two unit buildings, at least when it comes to the lower level units. “On Tuesday, February 21 at 6:30 p.m., Mayor Muriel Bowser will join Ward 4 Councilmember Brandon Todd to sign the Extreme Weather Protection for Animals Emergency legislation into law. Introduced by Councilmember Todd, the legislation will require dog owners in DC to ensure that dogs left outside during the winter are sufficiently protected from inclement weather.
Known as Momma’s Law, the legislation is named after a dog that was repeatedly left outside in below-freezing temperatures in the Petworth neighborhood. In January 2016, concerned neighbors grabbed the attention of local leaders and residents when they tried to intervene to get the dog properly sheltered.

It was a quiet morning around Sherman Circle when I decided to take my dogs for a walk. Just as I open the door the Ring doorbell activated itself and caught on video this crazy amount of gunshots. So scary and so dangerous!! There is a significant amount of cops at 9th and Crittenden… again!! Already a busy summer around that area. Just wondering when is going to stop!!”
MPD reports:
“Today around 11:00 am, MPD responded to the sounds of gunshots in the 4700 block of 9th Street, NW. The victim was located at a local hospital and is currently undergoing emergency medical treatment. The case is being investigated by detectives of the Fourth District. There is no additional information that can be provided at this time.

This week in DC and around the world people have been taking part in the second action from the 10 actions 100 days campaign started by the Women’s March. The goal of the campaign is to keep the momentum from the march going. “Huddles” have been formed where small groups are meeting to action plan in people’s homes/ restaurants and bars. Thus far 4,037 huddles have been formed worldwide. There were numerous ones in our own neighborhood this week. The momentum is so strong that once a huddle was published on the site it filled to complicity right away. The Women’s March Campaign provides everything the facilitator needs. The facilitator is only responsible for hosting/ finding a place and then publishing the huddle to the site.
Hank’s Cocktail Bar in Petworth was kind enough to host our Petworth Huddle. I thought they were a very appropriate place to meet since they are strong believers in our cause. The staff at Hank’s went out of their way to accommodate us. It was great experience, meeting new people from the neighborhood and working on an action plan to resist the damage the current administration is causing the country.
The idea is to keep these huddles going as we continue to #resist.”
