Found this beauty in my yard – dirty but in perfect shape! Apparently it’s from the 1930s/40s. Based on the number of listings for sale they don’t seem too rare but I can’t seem to find much about the dairy where they came from. Still a pretty cool book end. (more…)

“With the kickoff of a new year, hiring for Wegmans Food Markets’ two metro D.C. stores is underway. Opening in the spring and summer, Wegmans is looking for more than 600 employees to join their Carlyle-Alexandria and Wisconsin Ave. teams.
Located in Northwest Washington, D.C. at City Ridge, hiring for more than 300 part-time positions at the 84,000 sq. ft. Wisconsin Ave. store is set to begin this week. “Hiring and training are now underway for Wegmans Food Markets’ first store in Northwest Washington, D.C. at City Ridge. Located at the intersection of Wisconsin Avenue and Rodman Street, the store will be part of the historic building formerly occupied by Fannie Mae’s headquarters. The new store is scheduled to open in the summer of 2022. Wegmans plans to employ approximately 450 people at this location, including 150 full-time positions. Long time coming but finally getting there.

Holy moly, Squisito only opened last month. Thanks to Christina for sending word that they’ve gone dark and the sign has been removed. Prior to Squisito, Buredo closed here back in September 2018. Updates when we learn who takes a crack next.
