“Suspect Sought in a First Degree Sexual Abuse Offense: Unit Block of M Street SW”

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit seek the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in connection with a First Degree Sexual Abuse offense that occurred on Monday, November 27, 2017, in the Unit block of M Street, Southwest.

Between 12:30 am and 1:45 am, the suspect approached a female victim that was walking at the listed location. The suspect grabbed the victim from behind and pushed her to the ground. During the confrontation, the suspect sexually assaulted the female victim. The suspect then fled the scene on foot.

The suspect is described only as a male of unknown race.

Anyone who has information regarding this case should call police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, information may be submitted to the TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.”

1am Shooting in Dupont Circle; Shooting Homicide in SW

“This morning at approximately 1:00 am, the Metropolitan Police Department responded to a call for shooting in the 1800 block of Massachusetts Avenue, NW. When officers arrived on the scene, they located an adult male in a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was transported to a local hospital conscious and breathing. There is no lookout for the suspect at this time. The east side of Dupont Circle will remain closed until further notice as this investigation continues. Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call 202-727-9099.”

“ANOTHER DUPONT CIRCLE SHOOTING (2ND WEEKEND IN A ROW)- a 27-year-old man going now to a trauma center after he was shot in the eye. He is conscious. No suspect info.”

“ANC Loves Phase II Waterfront Development but Protests it Anyway”

“This is a gorgeous project. It’s a magnificent project,” said Commissioner Andy Litsky, Chair of Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 6D/Waterfront.

Commissioner Rhonda Hamilton (district 06) called it “a beautiful phase two”.

“Phase one is extraordinary and we fully expect to come to a good conclusion rapidly,” said Commissioner Meredith Fascett (district 07).

Nevertheless, ANC6E, after listening to a long presentation led by Shawn Seaman, Executive Vice President of developer PN Hoffman, voted to protest the request to DC’s zoning authorities to proceed with the project because a few details remained to be negotiated. Among the matters of contention were:

— working out an on-street parking plan that kept tour buses off residential streets,

— the details of a prohibition on electronic signs (e.g., will bus stop advertisements be included?),

— minimizing the inconvenience that the project will cause to “live-aboard” community, that is, Washingtonians whose homes are boats moored in a Southwest marina.

This last group made a strong showing at the meeting, with over 50 people on their feet when the ANC asked members of the live-aboard community to stand up. The local live-aboard community claims 94 members total.

Southwest On-street Parking to Get Worse

It will soon become even more difficult for visitors to park on-street near DC’s shiny new Waterfront. A resolution passed last night (October 16) by Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 6D/Waterfront urges DC authorities to extend the resident parking hours from 8:30pm daily to midnight, seven days a week, throughout the Waterfront area.
