“MRP Realty, developers of commercial, residential, and mixed-use real estate across the Washington Metropolitan region, and FRP Development Corporation announced today the opening of an interactive public plaza at Dock 79 in the Capitol Riverfront neighborhood. Nearly 30 tons of steel were used to create the space’s eight-foot wide, 100-foot long ribbon-like archway that is both above and under the plaza. The plaza also includes four wooden chess tables, four steel umpire chairs, concrete ping pong tables and a playful water feature. It is located on the eastside of the development adjacent to restaurant tenants The Salt Line and All-Purpose Pizzeria. (more…)

“Metro SafeTrack maintenance is an extremely important initiative that will hopefully improve the safety of the Washington DC public rail system which has been in disrepair for years. The residents of DC, Maryland, and Virginia; as well as millions of visitors to the area have dealt with the disruption that systematic closures to rail lines have incurred. These closures are a necessary inconvenience to reduce the number of, and impact of accidents surrounding the Metro system. However in the coming weeks, the Washington Nationals will be entering the playoffs for the third time in their brief history. (more…)

Bethesda Bagels coming to Navy Yard in “first quarter 2017”!!!

5777 proving to be a very good year already for folks who live or work in Navy Yard. You’re getting a Bethesda Bagels early next year!

The owners tell me the lease was just signed but they are “Planning on opening sometime in the first quarter of 2017.”

Bethesda Bagels opened their first District location in Dupont Circle back in 2011 and it is never not crowded. (RIP Johnny Rockets, anyone remember Johnny Rockets?)

It’ll be in the new building right outside the metro station at M and New Jersey Ave, SE:

“Washington National Opera (WNO) celebrates the return of free opera simulcasts to Nationals Park with title sponsor Mars, Incorporated with the M&M’S® Opera in the Outfield performance of Mozart’s classic romantic comedy The Marriage of Figaro on Saturday, September 24, 2016. Gates open at 5 p.m. for “pregame” activities, and the opera will be broadcast live from the Kennedy Center Opera House to the high-definition NatsHD scoreboard at the ballpark at 7 p.m. Free seating will be available in the stands, while access to the outfield grass will be limited on a first-come, first-served basis when gates open at 5 p.m. More information, including a chance to RSVP to win prizes, is available at OperaintheOutfield.org.
