Back in April we learned about the planned Bowling Lounge, Bar & Grille, coming to Ivy City. Those plans and The Eleanor are now coming to the former Union Social space in NoMa. According to Eater:
“Budding restaurateur Adam Stein is installing the bowling lanes, bar, and video games he originally envisioned for Ivy City inside short-lived Union Social instead, telling Eater that his new entertainment complex, the Eleanor, should be here by late spring.
The biggest modification: putting in four mini bowling lanes — “Think ¾ size duck pin-style lanes, from AMF,” Stein says — a renovation that’s projected to take up to three months. He’s hoping the significant remodel will still allow for around 180 seats inside (current occupancy is 250), plus room for 70-odd people on the outdoor patio.”

Pluma is looking great:
“Seasonality via local produce will play a part in the menu, says Arango, but they will also stay true to their brand and carry all their well-known favorites such as kouign-amann, a French cake. As for the name, Pluma means feathers in Spanish and is an expansion on the owners’ Bluebird Bakery brand, a wholesale distributor of baked goods and coffee to 13 coffee shops in the DC region, including the neighboring Union Market.”

Awesome news from the NoMa Parks Foundation:
“In 2012, the NoMa Public Realm Design Plan envisioned “art parks” at the four points in the neighborhood where roads pass beneath railroad tracks. In 2014, an international design competition for the L and M street NE underpasses resulted in 248 design entries from teams in 14 different countries. The 10 finalist entries were presented to the NoMa community for input on aesthetic concepts and functionality, resulting in more than 370 public comments on the designs. In 2015, the NoMa Parks Foundation named Thurlow Small Architecture + NIO architecten’s installation Rain as the winning design for M Street, and Future Cities Lab’s installation Lightweave as the winning design for L Street.
Now, after years of planning, fabrication, and hard work, the NPF and the NoMa BID are pleased to announce that all is set to begin the installation of the L and M street NE underpass art parks. Below are some important details about construction work and disruptions to pedestrian and cyclist movement along these spaces over the next couple of months.
M STREET UNDERPASS — RAIN
Thursday, January 11
- The sidewalk on the south side of M Street will be completely blocked off with fencing. The fence will not prohibit access to the bike-repair station next to the Metropolitan Branch Trail ramp.

“looks like nine west and art of shaving are closed at union station. probably 2,000 square feet of retail here.”
Presumably the Warby Parker will take much of that space. STAY TUNED.
