“Metro today resumed service at Gallery Place and Union Station, two of the 13 stations closed due to the expanded security perimeter for the 2021 Presidential Inauguration. Gallery Place serves as a major transfer station for the Red, Yellow and Green lines and Union Station as a transfer point between Metro, MARC, VRE and Amtrak. Additionally, detoured Metrobus routes will resume normal service on a route-by-route basis as roads reopen throughout the District. (more…)

“On Monday, October 12th between 11:00 AM and 1:00 PM, Arm in Arm DC organizers will host an action to protest both the current Union Station redesign plan and the continued recognition of Christopher Columbus through the name Columbus Circle and the Columbus statue outside of the station. We will also be conducting a voter registration drive during the protest.”

“Looks like another location is set to open, super close to the Butter Chicken Company 2 location on H Street, at the old Duet location (601 2nd St NE) rather than Masala Art as previously thought. Also now appears on their website along with coming soon 4 (Dupont) and 5 (Bethesda) coming soon!”

“Shooting at 5th and Kennedy. Sounded like at least 7 shots.”

and in Bloomingdale around 11:15pm:

“multiple large caliber gunshots (6+) heard in #BloomingdaleDC south of Adams, west of Flagler

“A dozen bangs then pause and 10 more? Hopefully not more gunshots in the Channing/1st area?”

“Just heard what sounded like gunshots by 2nd and W NW.”

“Metropolitan Police Department, US Capitol Police, and Amtrak Police officers and detectives are investigating a shooting that occurred at Union Station. The victim has been transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries and a suspect has been stopped. There are closures in the bus deck area and bus travelers may be delayed.

Our Story: Faces of Suffrage, Portraits of Change is an interactive photo mosaic and art installation depicting a portrait of suffragist and civil rights activist Ida B. Wells. Created by artist Helen Marshall of the People’s Picture, commissioned by the Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission, and produced by Christina Korp, Purpose Entertainment, Our Story commemorates the 100th anniversary of the 19th Amendment and women’s right to vote in the United States. From August 24 to 28, 2020, a large-scale installation of the photo mosaic will be on display in the Main Hall at Union Station. (more…)
