From a press release:

“Fans have traveled far and wide for experimental and barrel-aged beers from The Bruery since the independent craft brewery opened its doors in Orange County in 2008. From homebrewing roots and an unassuming corner unit in a business complex that housed the company’s first brewhouse and Tasting Room, the company has methodically grown its footprint and capabilities. This includes the build out of three distinct brands – The Bruery, Bruery Terreux and Offshoot Beer Co. – in addition to state-of-the-art enhancements in brewing and production, expansion into new markets and opening a second Tasting Room at the sour & wild Bruery Terreux facility.

The company has a reputation for pushing boundaries, such as creating a new category for bourbon barrel-aged imperial stouts, one that hovers around 20% ABV, and Society membership programs for fans to connect with their favorite breweries on an even deeper level. But there is one thing that the company has never been bold enough to attempt: establishing a brick-and-mortar presence east of the Mississippi. That is, until now.

This fall, The Bruery is branching out and bringing beer directly to the East Coast by opening a premier retail store that’s within driving distance for thousands of fans of independent craft beer. Located in the heart of one of Washington, D.C.’s most exciting urban villages, The Bruery Store at Union Market District will provide easy access for Society members to pickup online purchases, along with onsite bottle and can sales, rotating taps for growler fills, merchandise and gifts for the general public. Hello architectural plans!! And allow me to once again thank the Gods for such zoom technology on a $200 camera. Last month we broke the news that UNIQLO was hiring for a Union Station location. However, we had been burned in the past with similar job listing so reservations remained. Not anymore. This was at the end of a 15.1 mile walkabout so I thought maybe I was hallucinating – but no – that logo is too distinct even upside down:

So rejoice fellow UNIQLO fans – rejoice for real!! Still a ways to go of course:

But it is indeed the spot I figured last month, the old swatch store all the way back to the former cd store on the main floor. STAY TUNED.

“Shame on @MayorBowser & city for this thinly veiled attempt to wipe homeless people away. A few tents been at this NoMa underpass for a while. Never bothered me, area always clean & orderly, which I imagine is tough when homeless. More likely reason? The new REI & their patrons might not like walking past realities of inequality as they go to buy hiking boots. Scariest part is sign threatens to confiscate property & place in “storage for 60 days. Property including tents eg this persons home.”

A liquor license placard for the Legal Seafoods coming to Union Station says:

“New Class “C” Restaurant with 71 seats and a Total Occupancy Load of 101. Restaurant will serve traditional seafood fare including clams, cod, crab and chowder. No nude performances.”

Hours are listed as Sunday 12:00 pm – 6:00 pm, Monday through Saturday 11:00 am – 9:00 pm.
