@PoPville on twitter was lit up with reports of road closures this morning. Nevermindtheend sends these photos and writes: “I’ve never seen them block so many streets for the Prayer Breakfast before – Columbia Road was blocked from Connecticut Avenue up to Wyoming Avenue.”

“DGS Delicatessen and Colony Club are joining forces to bring DuPont Circle top-notch coffee and bagels. Sadie’s will operate out of the DGS sandwich counter from 7am-11am, Monday-Friday, so you can grab a latte and breakfast before DGS opens its doors for lunch.
Sadie’s Weekdays, a collaboration between cousins and friends, is a nod to the classic New York bagel shop, with an emphasis on quality ingredients and preparation. Expect to see a bagel with soft scrambled egg, cheddar cheese, and crispy DGS pastrami. The bagels are coming from DC’s own Bullfrog Bagels. Colony Club’s baristas will be behind the counter, brewing Ceremony Coffee (Annapolis, MD) and pulling shots of Tandem Coffee (Portland, ME).

The 1700 block of Willard St NW is a relatively quiet one block long one way enclave at the very tippy top of Dupont and at the bottom of the hill from Adams Morgan. It features a mix of Victorian houses, as well as small and mid-sized condo and rental buildings. (more…)

Maybe 19th Street isn’t dead after all:
Donburi’s first location is at 2438 18th Street, NW in Adams Morgan. Sophie’s closed back in March of last year.

A reader reported earlier today:
“The Starbucks on dupont circle just closed. Unexplained reason. And the other further up Connecticut by Dolcezza closed an hour later.”
Presumably in response to the damage to the downtown store earlier (pictured above.)
