Thanks to Rick Servoss for sending:

“Underground utilities serving the Meridian Hill fountains have been scanned. Hopefully won’t be long now.”

Ed. Note: Back in May we learned that “The Meridian Hill Park fountains are currently non-functional and in disrepair due to a broken supply waterline”. Updates when the water starts flowing.

Hopefully we’ll get to see this again soon, stay tuned:

Thanks to all who messaged over the weekend. From ICE OUT of DC!! rally and community response:

Columbia Heights Fountain, 14th St & Park Rd NW

Last week, ICE conducted at least three raids in Northwest DC, including an apartment raid in Mt. ICE agents ultimately detained nine people, including those who live in the building **as well as passersby on 16th Street.** ICE also entered a private home near Georgia Avenue and detained two people, and detained a person having dinner on 14th Street, reportedly with collusion from DC police. “Dear PoPville,

Last night I got an update from DC alert saying that something occurred and that there were road closures on the 2700-2800 block of 14th Street. My husband rode by it in his way home from work around 10:30 pm and Said there were multiple cop cars, K-9s, ambulance, etc… he also said there were many people gathered around the scene.”

Got a few messages about this but thanks to Gustavo for sending photos of the damage from 14th and Fairmont St, NW. “Some kids put an M80 or the equivalent in that newspaper box. I believe that cars in traffic on 14th were also damaged.”

One reader in the rant revel said it was a sound “that was something between nuclear bomb and the slamming of the lid on a 100 ft tall garbage bin.” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

So my car was towed from 13th and Kenyon NW because a house on the block is being remodeled. I called DPW and they said the car was located at the 1300 block of Park Rd. I walked up and down that block about 6 times pressing the panic button [ed. note: for the car to honk] and no dice. Repeated calls to DPW have resulted in their INSISTING the car is on that block, which it is not. They’re now at the point of hanging up on me when I call so I’m walking around Columbia heights pressing the panic button on my car key hoping by some miracle to find it. It’s a silver Kia Sportage with temporary VA tags. This is kind of my last ditch effort before reporting it stolen.”

Ed. Note: If somebody does happen to catch this hail mary please email me, [email protected], where you saw it and I’ll pass on to OP. Or of course post in the comments – thank you.
