“the officer did not collect information from the driver of the car and simply stated I fell of my bike”

“Dear PoPville,

I was in a bike accident last Tuesday (August 7) around 6pm at 14th St NW and Monroe in Columbia Heights. I was cut off by a car, breaked really hard, my bike skid, and I took a pretty bad fall that ended with a bloody forehead, a bum knee, and an evening in the ER. I’m writing in because I finally got around to picking up the police report to realize that the officer did not collect information from the driver of the car and simply stated I fell of my bike, potentially “due to congestion on the road”.

I know I was cut off and there was a very very kind man riding behind me who helped make sure I was ok and called my sister immediately. I wanted to put this out here in the community in the off-chance someone else witnessed the accident. I could really use someone else’s account to help show that I did not just “fall off my bike”, but was indeed cut-off. I wasn’t coherent enough to trade insurance information with the driver, and will probably need it now. thank you so much! any help appreciated!”
