From the Good Silver:

“The Good Silver, located at 3410 11th St NW in Columbia Heights, is happy to announce we are switching things up in a big way. After a year-long identity crisis (“is it a cocktail bar, a sports bar, or a tinder spot?”), we’re tearing it all down and starting from scratch. So, we’ve combined two of our favorite things: deli sandwiches and booze. If your favorite cocktail is whiskey neat, and you believe the path to enlightenment is on top of pastrami piled high, you will be right at home at the new Good Silver. The food menu, from chef Mytia Crawley, features cured and smoked meats from new, local company Epic Curing. For beverages we’re sticking to bottles, cans, combos and cocktails that don’t require a PhD to appreciate (all $10 and under).

Menu and more after the jump. (more…)

From scuttlebutt back in January to sources say yesterday to confirmed confirmed by DC USA reps. And it drives some people crazy but that’s how we do!! OK so here’s the official word from a DC USA rep: JP Morgan Chase will be taking over the old Vitamin Shoppe space right at the corner of 14th and Park and Old Navy will take over from where Vitamin Shoppe was to the present Gussini. It is not known yet who is taking the Gussini space when they move out at the end of the month.

14th between Irving and Park Road, NW

Yesterday we learned that Gussini was leaving DC USA in Columbia Heights. But all is not lost!! In addition to a JPMorgan Chase Bank coming it appears our earlier Old Navy scuttlebutt is also panning out!!

I hear that Old Navy has signed their lease in DC USA and should be taking over the unleased storefront (between Gussini and the former Children’s Place) and a significant chunk of the Children’s Place location. So JPMorgan Chase Bank should be taking over the former Vitamin store space and the balance of the Children’s Place. The bottom line is that the Old Navy will be near 14th and Park. God willing. Updates when more is known.

Thanks to Amanda for sending: “Signs up for moving sale. The good news is that there is definite construction happening in the old children’s place and staples space.”

Hmm, Gussini only opened up in the part of the old Staples space last year. Previously we had heard that an Old Navy could be coming to DC USA. More recently I’ve heard a Gap, Gap Kids and/or a Michael’s crafting store. I still haven’t completely given up hope on those options but the space below under construction must be the JPMorgan Chase Bank?

“Dear PoPville,

On Saturday I was one of the vendors at the farmers market, everything was nice except the number of drunks, I got jewelry, I decided not to put many items out because I did not trust them, one of them was nasty, next thing I saw was one of the vendors blending from his arm. He called the police, I went to Giant with another vendor and got Neosporin, the other vendor got gauze to wrap his arm, finally the police showed up. The attacker was arrested. The police cordoned off the area with yellow tape, I packed my stuff and left, was my first and was my last at the farmers market. Was a very bad experience. I hope Leo the flower and plants vendor will recover. And the farmers market work with police to protect vendors and customers.”

“Dear PoPville,

Heads up- my roommate was assaulted today near the intersection of Kenyon and 11th Street. She was walking along at 11am this morning and a guy literally just punched her in the side of her head and kept on walking. He didn’t go for any valuables or even enter into a dialogue with her. Just a literal punch and run (walk) away while she was stunned and trying to stop her ear from bleeding. She filed a police report with MPD. (more…)
