“Whole Foods Market will open its sixth location in the District of Columbia – and first store in Northeast – at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, March 15. The community is invited to join store team members and company leaders at 8:45 a.m. for Whole Foods Market’s traditional bread-breaking ceremony. Opening day shoppers will be greeted with door-buster deals and an array of in-store product demonstrations and samples.

“I’m excited to introduce the Whole Foods Market difference to our neighbors who live east of the Capitol,” said store team leader Donovan Morris, referring to the Quality Standards which are applied to every product sold or prepared by Whole Foods Market. “When people understand that every single item on our shelves and sold in our restaurants is free of artificial preservatives, flavors, sweeteners, colors and hydrogenated fats, they can trust that every product is made with only the best ingredients.”

“Dear PoPville,

Yesterday, I received a notice from Chase that my credit card had been used for some potentially fraudulent transactions; 2 were at Giant supermarket, one at MAC cosmetics, and one was for some online service; Chase had flagged the first three and then cancelled the last one at my say so.  I’ve only used the card 3 times in the last 2 weeks and one of those times was this past Sunday at the Giant on 3rd and H- similar to this story you published a few weeks back.  For the record I used cashier checkout and the card had a chip but I don’t think I put the PIN in.  The purchases were attempted at a Giant in Silver Spring (store #0354), not the 3rd and H location.

I contacted store customer service for 3rd and H and they said they weren’t aware of any issues- not even the ones from a few weeks ago:/  It could be that my card was compromised at one of the other 2 or 3 places that I used it recently, but based on the experiences of others I think something’s going on here.”

“Whole Foods Market will open its newest Washington location on Wednesday, March 15, at 600 H St. NE. The store, designed to be the go-to destination for grocery shoppers east of the Capitol, will offer the highest quality natural and organic products, including fresh produce, meat, seafood and prepared foods.

“We’re thrilled to join the thriving H Street neighborhood,” said Donovan Morris, the store’s team leader and a 26-year Whole Foods Market veteran who most recently led the Foggy Bottom/GW store. “We’re offering a unique, exciting grocery shopping experience and a new destination for fast casual dining with gathering places for the community.”

Every item sold in the store meets Whole Foods Market’s rigorous quality standards and is free of artificial flavors, colors, sweeteners, preservatives and hydrogenated fats.

The 40,000-square-foot store includes:

· The first expanded Paper Horse venue by Chef Erik Bruner-Yang, introducing a larger Chinese diner-style menu, featuring Asian comfort foods

· Collaborations with Atlas Brew Works, including a first-to-market “Home Rule” brew and baked-from-scratch breads made from recycled brewer’s grain

· Exclusive local products, including sauces and spice blends from Maketto, Cava restaurant sauces and D.C.-based Snacklins’ vegan “pork rinds”

Lots of folks have been writing in asking “Any word on the H Street Whole Foods? I believe they were saying it would open in February.”

February looks right – as the interior is completely built out – looks like they just need to stock the shelves:
