My rowhouse block has a foot alley behind it for trash and other things from which our properties are accessible. My neighbor has decided to take over his portion of the foot alley, blocking the rear entrance to my house. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Know in the scheme of things, no biggie, but I noticed this morning that David’s Tent on the mall was taken down! Wonder if it’s permanent? Have seen other posts about the 24-7 tent and was surprised to see that space empty while jogging today.”

I’m interested in opportunities to volunteer on MLK day this month. Do you or others in the community know of places that are hosting volunteer events? I’ve done park clean ups in the past. Thank you!”

“Dear PoPville,
I am a parent of a 2nd grade student. I’m trying to find out what schools parents have had good experiences with regarding dyslexia. I’m particularly interested in whether the PoPville community (of teachers or parents) knows of any DC public or charter schools that do a good job with evidence-based interventions. I am particularly interested in schools that do 80-90 minutes per day of instructional time in phonics and/or connected texts with dyslexic kids in early elementary.”

“Dear PoPville,
I need junk removal service recommendations! I’m moving and need a company to remove old furniture and small appliances that aren’t worth trying to resell. It’s from a building with more than four units, so I can’t use 311, and your last roundup was from 2011. Any chance you could ask for an updated round of suggestions? It seems hard to weed out legit companies….”
