“Dear PoPville,

Lost my wallet on Webster (in Petworth.) Knew within a couple minutes and biked all up and down the block looking. Gave up hope quickly and went back to my apt.

It was waiting for me at my front door. So, someone found it, checked the license, and hustled it back to my front door. It beat me home thanks to a Good…nope, I’m going to say Great samaritan.

And here I was about to curse 2021.”

“Dear PoPville,

Him, tall with orange and purple pedialyte, Korbel, and bread in the Safeway checkout line (Adams Morgan)–for him and his roommate as they were getting lit in their living room. He owned the fact the pedialyte was for the hangover/pre-emptive. Me–standard racially ambiguous girl with tie dye disposable mask with smuckers’ frozen sandwiches, pesto, and frozen dumplings. “Dear PoPville,

I’m curious what other people in DC who live in one bedroom condos are paying for their water bill? My building uses Studebaker Submeter and we all have similar bills of 57.80 for one month of water. Other people in the building have had them come out to check their meters and its’ working fine. I live by myself, take one shower a day and one load of laundry a week. I don’t use the dishwasher. This just seems absurd to have such a high bill but was told DC is upgrading its water plant and all residents are taxed for it.”

“Dear PoPville,

The SW corner of 12th and P NW is falling into the storm drain, and it just seems like a matter of time before someone gets seriously hurt. I submitted this photo to 311 and got the response “looks fine” from whoever reviewed the submission. This photo is the original one I sent in… I walked past it again today and it’s gotten worse. I’ve broken a leg and wouldn’t wish the experience on anyone.” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Several front desk people in my building frequently take off or pull down their masks (one in particular is wearing a mask maybe 50% of the time if we’re being generous). There are also many residents who never wear masks and the front desk people sit and chat with them and never remind them of the mask rules. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I presume these are temp towers for the inauguration, but they’re massive. That is the NGA East building in the photo for scale.”

“Dear PoPville,

We sadly missed out on many of the New Year’s Eve takeout options we were interested in, and would love to make a special dinner at home. To that end, I’m wondering if anyone knows where I’d be able to buy truffles. Thanks!”
