“Dear PoPville,

I live in a small multi-unit building (4 units) which qualifies us for private contracted trash pick-up. The other day I watched the trash truck come by and realized that they threw the contents of the recycling bin into the trash truck along with the contents of the two trash bins. I was afraid this might be happening since most multifamily buildings often have such contaminated recycling.”

“Dear PoPville,

I am an architectural designer and deal frequently with DCRA permitting services. The last project we submitted received comments, which is expected, but a number of the reviews — everything that isn’t DC-specific (Historic, DOEE & Zoning) — were handled by a single person whose e-mail address gave me pause. Update from One Medical: “We require patients to register for One Medical in order to create them a patient chart and easily communicate with our care team. Please register through the link provided by your local DPH.”

Emma asks: “I got an appointment at one of the One Medical locations and it’s making me register for One Medical? Does this seem right? anyone else having this problem?”

For those who got in through One Medical were you prompted for a 90 day free trial or other registration? Were there any fees involved?

Rick writes: “I booked a vaccine appointment through DC Health at Entertainment and Sports Arena operated by One Medical. I was required to sign up for a One Medical account (more…)

Alexandra asks:

“there is a car alarm on Garfield St. NW between 38th and Wisconsin Ave that for the 4th day its alarm goes off at random times. 1st during the day now day & night. Car has not been moved since Monday HEEEEEELP! We can’t sleep.” (more…)

Thanks to all who’ve messaged us:

“I’m eligible for the vaccine based on zip code, health and occupation, so of course I clicked to register at exactly 9am today.

At the end, I got a message saying “Thank you, […] registration is only open for those 65 and older”. No appointment, no find a location page.

Anyone else have this (incorrect) message at the end? Not sure what to do without registering multiple times trying to get to a correct page.”

Updated response from a reader: “Thank you for contacting DC Health. We are aware of the technological error and are working diligently to resolve it. At this time, please continue to monitor the website and book your appointment via https://vaccinateqa.dc.gov/”

“Dear PoPville,

Here’s a real estate 2.0 question concerning that which happens when a popup meets another popup (the relevant backgrounder here is that this involves a row house block comprised of flat roofs with raised portions between)

Is it expected that the neighboring property (next to the new construction) be allowed to build directly into this new wall (as you no longer have access to the congruent space you have allowed usage of on your side)?

And if the halfway point (assumed to be the property line) has been breached by this new construction, that is to say built past (perhaps because they had to) is it then the right of the neighboring property to do so?”

From our first discussion back in 2011

“Dear PoPville,

So today [Tuesday] we had two gentlemen knock at our door and ask if we’d like to have some fine frozen meats — they were promising a very good deal. First it sounded off. But then I thought in COVID times, they might be small businesses owners getting creative to make ends meet. So I asked hubby to see what they had and make sure he only had some cash (limited amount — couldn’t spend much). They pulled up their minivan, marked with “Capital Meats Company” and started pulling out frozen fine cuts, pushing him to get these “unbelievable deals” for hundreds of dollars. (more…)
