“Dear PoPville,

I’ve noticed a significant amount of demo work going on in the former Modell’s store at DCUSA, and next door in the already vacant space that used to be Elite? something or other. They took down a couple of walls to open up the space (for what would make a much bigger single retail space) and they’re even tearing out the drop ceiling that used to be in Modell’s and the previous store next door. “Dear PoPville,

Last week a man from a tent took it upon himself to cut down all the plants in the tree boxes that I maintain in front of my house. (he didn’t like them outside his tent). Two butterfly bushes that were home to hundreds of butterflies. Two rose bushes that I planted 7 years ago. And he even got halfway through THE TREE before I stopped him. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Was doing a bunch of strength exercises on Sunday (today!) around 3pm at the Rock Creek Trail Exercise area near Beach and Shoreham (the grassy area with the exercise stuff down the hill behind the Omni Shoreham) and there was a dreamy and fit dark haired guy doing the same (and an impressive amount of push-ups!). “Dear PoPville,

Has anyone sent in their passport for renewal recently? I know the state department is backed up, hence why I want to send things along ASAP. However, across the city we’ve seen issues with USPS (arriving late, never arriving/stolen mail, low staffing) and I’m nervous about my passport getting lost in the mail. Any recent experience and advice would be greatly appreciated!”

You know this. I know you know this. A reminder never hurts. Should you happen to spot this bike please email me at [email protected] and I’ll poss on to OP.

“Dear PoPville,

I had my priority continuum onyx stolen last night on the 700 block of Park Road NW (Park View). It was in our backyard (behind our 9 ft tall fence!) hidden behind our cars. Someone had to see into our backyard well enough to 1) jump the fence, 2) get it back over the 9 ft tall fence, and 3) navigate the small pond we have back there (which looks like they got pretty wet). “Dear PoPville,

I got a very minor dog bite on Shepherd Street near 14th on Sunday around 3pm. I was not injured but the bite broke the skin and I’d feel a lot better if I could verify the dog’s vaccination history. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

On Thursday, walking home (P Street & Logan Circle) in the rain without an umbrella and with my hands full of grocery bags, a stranger approached me and offered to share their umbrella. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Have you heard anything about the reopening of the recreation facilities on 9th Street (dog park/basketball court/skate park). I have gotten no information from the ANC, the Council 1 Reps or the DC Parks Department. Looks ready to go.”

Another reader writes: “Shaw dog park is still not open despite the city advertising that it was opening the end of august.”

Shaw Dog Park writes: “We are working to remain in touch with @DCDPR and will share opening details when we have them.”
