“Dear PoPville,

My partner and I just moved into a tiny Petworth rowhouse from an apartment building and have two road bikes that we’ll likely need to store outside due to space constraints in the house/basement. We have a small back patio and a postage stamp front yard, but I’m mostly worried about weather exposure damaging our bikes.

Does the #bikedc crowd have any recommendations for storing bikes safely outside?”

“Dear PoPville,

I was driving up to Harvard St, exiting from Rock Creek Parkway by the zoo.

“Dear PoPville,

A few weeks ago, I was at Purple Patch for dinner when I saw a beautiful dog out to dinner with her foster mom. The dog, a shepherd mix named Cora (or similar), was wearing an ‘Adopt Me’ harness and was extremely well behaved to the point where the server was encouraging me to adopt her. Unfortunately, we already have a dog and a newborn.

However, I couldn’t stop thinking about her and how perfect she would be for my parents who have a few acres in Maryland and are ready to adopt a dog after the loss of our family dog a few years ago. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I remember seeing this post about credit cards stolen in the mail. I just had a similar experience. I got a new credit card, and Chase sent an envelope to return the old one for recycling, presumably because the card is metal.

I put the old credit card in the envelope and dropped it off directly into the mailbox at the USPS location at 3321 Georgia Ave NW on Saturday afternoon. Monday night, I got a notification that somebody used the card for a $120.05 charge at the Walmart on H St. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I’ve been looking for a therapist/counselor for a few months now (everyone seems to have a waitlist these days), but can’t seem to find any practice that has started in-person sessions again. I realize it may still be too early, but I really think an in-person environment would be better for me. Just wondering if anyone in the DC area has started going back to therapy in-person.”

“Dear PoPville,

Has anyone else been hit with a massive Pepco bill lately? This morning Pepco notified me that it has “revised” my bill to $918. When I called, a customer service representative told me Pepco had read my meter incorrectly for months, and this latest charge is a “revision” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

My friend and I were sitting at the bar of Bier Baron on Monday night when you came in and asked the bartender if it was open mic night. It wasn’t but I’m glad you wandered in (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I’m wondering if you might help us crowd-source a solution regarding increasing rates of misdelivered packages in our Logan Circle condo building.

Nearly a month ago, a couple major shipping companies misdelivered packages from all over downtown DC — all in the same week. For some of the packages, their final destinations were blocks away; for others, they were meant for deliveries across town. (more…)
