I am a new homeowner of a townhouse in Shaw/Truxton Circle. There is a large tree that is shared between my rear yard and my neighbor’s rear yard. It needs a trim, and I’m concerned for its health, as it started turning brown and dropping leaves in ~July. (more…)

I’ve had Kaiser for three years and have had an extremely difficult time trying to get help for mental health, specifically access to a therapist. Each time I try to access therapy they say that patients can not receive regular individual therapy services due to their “model” (in reality it is because they don’t have enough therapists for the number of members they have). Most recently, I completed an initial visit with a therapist who told me I could have my second appointment 3 months in the future and gave me a single book recommendation in the meantime. (more…)

As of Summer 2021, Tenleytown Trash was bought out by Republic Services. Over the course of transition, trash pickup has been sporadic (awful!). Based off posts on the Nextdoor App, this issue has been consistent. Republic Services claims that they have had IT issues with the transfer over from Tenleytown Trash. My condo building (in Bloomingdale) has exhausted patience with the company after contacting the Republic Services HQ Office and speaking with the local Operations Manager. After seeing the service truck drive by our condo building twice today, slowing down, taking a look and driving off without emptying our bins, I am seeking the community’s input for Private trash companies that can service a small condo building. “Dear PoPville,
I (like many) during the pandemic ended up scrapping traditional wedding plans and opted to elope via zoom and took advantage of the self-marrying options for DC. I don’t doubt that the DC government is drowning in backlogs with much of its workforce remote. However, my husband and I got married on January 1, 2020 and have been waiting VERY PATIENTLY for 3 copies of certificates (that have already been fully paid for) but still haven’t received. I filled in all the appropriate paperwork and THINK we’re married. (more…)

I sold a house and had closing this week. At the last minute DCRA came in and took $45k of the proceeds from me with no explanation. After further investigation it appears that they never cleared up some complaints I had from a tenant several years ago and the fines grew exponentially to $45k even though they never contacted me about it. It was between 22nd and 23rd on N St. NW a little after 7. I was very flustered and feel like I either forgot to thank you properly or not enough. It was very, very kind and I appreciated the help – I was a bit worse for ware in the moment.”

There was a couple and their friend at Lucky Buns around 8pm on Wednesday night with two ridiculously cute dogs. The single friend was *very* cute.
To the guy in the red shirt: I was too nervous to ask your name, but I did ask your dog’s breed. Your dog, a whippet if I remember correctly, was delightful, but I have a feeling you’re even better.
If you don’t remember: I was wearing a yellow shirt and jeans, and with my couple friends.”
