This is curious, the liquor license placard at the former Uprising Muffin space in Shaw says:
“Licensee requests to transfer license from 705 H Street, N.W. to a new location at 1817 7 Street, N.W. Licensee is also requesting a Class Change from Retailer C Restaurant to Retailer Class C Tavern, to add a Summer Garden Endorsement with 30 seats, and to change the hours of live entertainment inside the premises. Establishment is a fast, casual pizzeria tavern with a Total Occupancy Load of 106 and seating for 83. **Proposed new trade name is Broccoli Bar.”
A lot to unpack here. So does the license transfer mean the &pizza in Chinatown at 705 H St, NW is closing or just not serving beer/wine anymore? And what’s up with the name Broccoli Bar?
STAY TUNED.

Whoa, thanks to Nicole for sending yesterday:
“I went to go to Pho Viet and saw a ton of jack hammering and construction. Any idea what is going on? My friend told me that she was there last week and they had a sign that they would be closed this week. Hope they reopen soon!”
I’m gonna file this as new patio coming!!

Thanks to Mertol for sending: “I thought, the final notice on closing was posted as we all saw in prior updates… I was wrong…”

More woes of expanding too quickly? Thanks to Geneva and Robert for sending news about the latest victim – Buredo at Wisconsin and Veazey Street, NW, which opened in November 2017. Buredo also closed their H Street, NE location back in August after only being open there for 6 months.

The former After Peacock Room has a new tenant – Lily:
“New C Restaurant serving Western Mediterranean Cuisine. Seating Capacity of 60, Total Occupancy Load of 100, and a Summer Garden with 30 Seats.”
One sec, I’m gonna have to consult a map…
Updates as more is known and they get closer to opening.

Thanks to all who messaged about many Taylor Gourmet locations closing before Sunday. (more…)
