Thanks to a tipster for passing on a job listing saying they are opening in April. The liquor license application for Officina Cafe says:

“New Restaurant delivering food and alcohol to offices throughout the building. Summer Garden with 60 seats. Total Occupancy Loadis150 with seating for 60 inside premises. Requesting an Entertainment Endorsement to provide live entertainment and dancing indoors and outdoors.”

In October Officina opened their Wharf location.

Eater reported:

“Stefanelli says the Officina Cafe will primarily serve breakfast, lunch, and happy hour. He’s still working out the possibility of dinner. The chef is envisioning Roman pizzas, pasta, sandwiches, salads, coffee, and cocktails.”

Updates as the cafe gets closer to opening downtown.

Looks like it.

“Grand Trunk is a premier South Asian – Modern American restaurant located in the heart of Washington D.C. We serve gourmet food fast in a luxury setting.”

All their social media stops in November and a call to the restaurant just rings and rings. Thanks to Andrew for reporting: “Grand Trunk (RIP) I think it took longer to get open than it stayed open. Looked like some construction/work was going on inside. Signage is down too.”

Grand Trunk opened with great fanfare back in January 2015. The first posted coming soon signage was back in November 2011. Will they be missed? Updates when more is known.
