From a press release:

“D.C.-based restaurateur Antonio Matarazzo and chef Matteo Venini announce an April 2 opening of their upscale fast-casual pizza and street food concept, Stellina Pizzeria, in the growing Union Market District. The duo most recently worked together as managing partner and executive chef, respectively, of the city’s popular high-end Italian restaurants Lupo Verde, Lupo Verde Osteria and Lupo Marino. Their new venture – occupying a 2,000-square-foot, 88-seat footprint at 399 Morse Street NE – brings a contemporary spirit to the classic pizza counter, and taps into a new niche of fine-casual Italian dining. Meaning “little star” in Italian, Stellina has a logo of five circles representing the five points of a star, each signifying a different element of the dining experience: Italy, pizza, style, food and love. Thanks to Danny for sending:

“Have you checked out Midnight Deli yet at 4701 Georgia Ave NW? It’s looks like a regular little convenience store, but I noticed a smoker outside a couple weeks ago when I was walking to Buna after your coverage. I went by Midnight Deli yesterday afternoon to see what was going on and they had some really good bbq going on – I got an order of 4 bourbon wings and 4 smoked maple wings. The bbq is available Weds – Sun, but they have other items on Mon and Tues. They also sell 6 packs of beer and a few other random stuff. I spoke with the guys running it a bit and they said they opened in January. (more…)

Thanks to all who passed on word from Washingtonian:

“The team behind Burmese bodega Toli Moli has been using its tiny Union Market food hall stall to introduce DC to the wonders of falooda (a parfait-like dessert with basil seeds, ice cream, and flavored gelatin) and mohinga (catfish noodle curry). Now, they’re hoping to give Burmese cuisine an even bigger platform with a sit-down restaurant called Thamee, meaning “daughter.” It will replace Sally’s Middle Name, which closes on H Street Northeast on March 31.”

From Eventbrite:

Not a lot to go on but before I get scooped by someone else – I hear Bar Pilar may be for sale and based on the silence from my queries it seems very likely that it either has or is close to happening. Updates when we learn more.

Ed. Note: Bar Pilar is a neighborhood gem and I hope, if this is true, it doesn’t change too drastically.
