Time to play my favorite game – best Italian in the D of C. It might be too much to handle all in one post but there’s so much overlap that I figure we should keep them under the same umbrella. Without further ado – where are all your favorites?

The liquor license placard for eat brgz says:

“A restaurant that will be serving American cuisine.The licensee is requesting a Sidewalk Café with seating for 15 patrons. The licensee is requesting a Summer Garden with seating for 45 patrons and a total occupancy of 54. Interior seating for 25. Total Occupancy Load of the entire establishment is 99.”

1700 17th Street, NW

Back in late December we reported that the longtime 17th Street tenant Steam Cafe was for sale. Apparently it sold. From the Dupont listserv:

“Just noticed today that Steam had closed. I’m sorry to see it go but I hope the owner had a nice payday. The new place will be an Indian kabob place and will open by the summer.”

Updates as we learn more.
