“Folger’s new cafe name announced!”

“When the Folger Shakespeare Library (201 East Capitol Street, SE) reopens on June 21, 2024, after a major 4-year renovation project, visitors won’t have to leave the building in order to grab a snack or have a meal. Quill & Crumb, the new café that will be housed in the Folger’s historic Great Hall, will offer lunch, baked goods, and snacks alongside coffee and tea service during the day, and a full-service bar and light bites in the evening. There was a time. There was a time at 14th and U circa 2007, PoPville archives.

And that time is coming back – sorta. Thanks to Michael Neibauer for passing on the wonderful news he reported in WBJ:

“Taco Bell is expected to replace the shuttered D.C. Noodles at 1410-1412 U St. NW, on the ground floor of the Louis at 14th Street apartment building, with a Taco Bell Cantina, according to plans obtained from ConstructConnect.” (more…)

Today in “Absurd Restaurant Fees” – Mustard?!?

“Dear PoPville,

Last week Duke’s Counter gave me a check that included a charge for of $1.50 for a “side” because I had asked for, and received, more mustard. I probably should have pointed out that the sandwich was supposed to have mustard on it, but that it couldn’t be tasted. (more…)
