Last week Duke’s Counter gave me a check that included a charge for of $1.50 for a “side” because I had asked for, and received, more mustard. I probably should have pointed out that the sandwich was supposed to have mustard on it, but that it couldn’t be tasted.
The charge was first defended when I inquired about it – I was told it wasn’t up to the staff but was restaurant policy – and then ultimately removed when I said fine, but that I’d deduct it from the 20% (or more) tip I customarily leave. Anyone else know a restaurant that charges for condiments?”
