“Barred Owl spotted on 400 block of Q St NW — Beautifully and silently swooped over Q St, perching long enough to check me out while I fumbled with my groceries and iPhone for the pic. Then it gave a passing car a thrill by swooping just low enough for them to catch sight ahead and above their car. I heard the driver belt out a yelp when he saw it”
And City Wildlife saved a super cute one at the National Cathedral:
And a great one shared to our Instagram:

If you spot a hawk or any interesting wildlife around town, lunching or otherwise, and get a good photo please send where you spotted it to [email protected] and I’ll add it to the queue. Hawks around Town is made possible by a generous grant from the Ben and Sylvia Gardner foundation.
