UPDATE from Bourbon’s Facebook:
Some news:
After 12 years in one of the city’s great neighborhoods, Adams Morgan, Bourbon has decided to close our doors.
The goal was to be a relaxed, easy-going bar, with great music and an even greater staff, to be the neighborhood bar, a whiskey lover’s home at a time when whiskey wasn’t yet the trend. We succeeded.
Instead of reinventing the business entirely, I think it’s best that we re-evaluate exactly what we’re offering to our community and how. I am eager to explore other opportunities within this city. I am grateful for the time and relationships this venture has graced my life with. I credit every single individual that assisted in our success for many years; specifically, our staff and Bill Thomas’s staff in the years before me.
All the priceless memories and impactful moments this little watering hole could pour, we certainly drank. Thank you all.
— James P. Woods, owner”

6th and Rhode Island Ave, NW
“Dear PoPville,
On the southeast corner of 6th Street and Rhode Island Avenue NW in Shaw, there is an empty lot that was previously the location for Mr. P’s Ribs, which were charmingly served out of a modified school bus. it has now been nearly four years since Mr. P sadly passed away. I had nearly given up hope that anything interesting would move into that prime location.
Update: Electric Cool-Aid has a Facebook page:

But this morning I walked by and spoke to some artists preparing a large wall mural on the site. The mural is somehow connected to Pabst Blue Ribbon — they seem to have sponsored murals across the country. According to the artists, the mural should be done in just a few days. PBR is also reportedly partnering with someone local and a beer garden will be opening on the lot in April. The rumored name is “Electric Cool-Aid,” and it will serve both PBRs and slushy drinks. Thanks to all who emailed about Gong Cha coming to New York Ave:
“Signage is finally up and there’s a Poki DC right next to it! 1399 New York.”
Their website says:
“The house special product is “Gong Cha Milk Foam Series”. The special-made milk foam took a long time to develop before Gong Cha founded. The main idea was from the milk foam on Coffee Latte, and to improve the taste with salty flavor. The Milk Foam tea contains a lower layer of brewed tea covered by an upper layer of special creamer. Creamy taste with fantastic mixture surprises customers and gives supreme experience.. This series is the best seller in Gong Cha stores.”

Good news for chicken heads. My sources deep in the fast casual chicken world have a juicy tidbit for us today – Chick-Fil-A cometh to 18th Street. I’m hearing 1214 18th Street, NW (near Nando’s buckle up son) and Eighth Street Lounge, Shake Shack etc. It’s not clear exactly which space it’s taking, not sure if the Rabbit Hole fell through or if the Eritrean Cultural & Civic Center is being split. These spaces were formerly home to MIA Lounge, Lupe Mexican Cantina and Sesto Senso
Anyway I give this scuttlebutt an 87% accuracy rating.
STAY TUNED.
