From MPD:

“The Metropolitan Police Department announced the suspect who was shot by a special police officer in Union Station has died. The adult male suspect was initially involved in the stabbing of an adult female on Friday, September 11, 2015 at approximately 12:47 pm inside a building in the 100 block of F Street, Northeast.

A nearby security officer witnessed the stabbing and took action to intervene, at which time the suspect fled on foot with the knife. Special Police Officers pursued the suspect onto the grounds of Union Station, in the unit block of Massachusetts Avenue, Northeast, where in a public area of the building, the suspect engaged the officers with the knife. A Special Police Officer shot the suspect, who was then apprehended. The female victim and the suspect were transported to area hospitals for treatment where the suspect later died. The female victim is expected to survive. [The original offense appears to be domestic in nature.]

The identity of the decedent is being withheld pending confirmation of his identity and notification of the next of kin.”
