Last week we learned that “Half & N silver diner rumors appear to be true.” Let’s mark that 100% true. All the info from a press release:

“Silver Diner has just signed a lease for its first Silver Diner restaurant in Washington, D.C. While the company operates a restaurant in Northwest, Washington–Silver, American Brasserie, it has never had a Silver Diner in D.C. The 8,000 square foot, two-story space is located at Half and N streets, Southeast. It is located next to Nationals Park. (more…)



Florida Ave at California Street, NW

“Dear PoPville,

I’m in Adam’s Morgan and my fiancé and I were crushed when Pleasant Pops closed its doors. But today we noticed some potential good news. Just across the street from the prior location, it appears a shop is being put together. The best part? We could see a Pleasant Pops sign inside when we briefly peaked in the window!

475 H Street, NW

Thanks to Eric for sending: “Looks like there’s some movement at the old Chinatown Coffee shop. The “for lease” signs were removed from the windows and there were people working on it this past weekend. I peeked in and the counter was removed. Any tips on what’s coming in?

Chinatown Coffee closed in 2019 after 10 years here.



4th and H Street, NE

Last month we shared some scuttlebutt about the old Driftwood Kitchen/True Orleans space on H Street, NE. A new liquor license placard confirms that The Boiling Crab is indeed coming to H Street, NE. The placard for The Boiling Crab at 400 H Street, NE says:

“A new Retailer’s Class C Restaurant with a seating capacity of 160 and Total Occupancy Load of 174.”
