Last week we reported about a fire at the former Big Hunt building in Dupont. [Ed. Note: If I told you how I was screamed at by someone, after I posted photo farewell to the Big Hunt, who swore to me that Big Hunt would be reopening. If only. If only…] At the time of the fire DC Fire and EMS wrote: “Building appears to be under renovation.” And now first I’m hearing of what could be coming. Thanks to a reader for passing on this intriguing update from the organizer of a proposal to revive the Uptown:

“Dear Neighbors, Friends and Supporters of the Uptown:

Thank you again for all your support and enthusiasm for our idea to revive the Uptown as a center for arts, film and education.

As you know, last week we submitted our proposal and letter of intent to lease the property. The owners got back to us this week to say that while they are impressed with our efforts and appreciate our vision, they have entered into a letter of intent with an “arts/theater group” that they believe “will change the course of the Uptown and the neighborhood.” (more…)
