Uptown Theatre Update: Owners have “entered into a letter of intent with an “arts/theater group”

3426 Connecticut Ave, NW

Thanks to a reader for passing on this intriguing update from the organizer of a proposal to revive the Uptown:

“Dear Neighbors, Friends and Supporters of the Uptown:

Thank you again for all your support and enthusiasm for our idea to revive the Uptown as a center for arts, film and education.

As you know, last week we submitted our proposal and letter of intent to lease the property. The owners got back to us this week to say that while they are impressed with our efforts and appreciate our vision, they have entered into a letter of intent with an “arts/theater group” that they believe “will change the course of the Uptown and the neighborhood.”

I wish I had more detail to share (I’m told there will be a formal announcement at the appropriate time). While I am indeed disappointed, I’m hopeful that the selected tenants will honor the history of the Uptown and contribute to the neighborhood and larger DC community.

Your incredible support and enthusiasm over the last four weeks for our plan for the Uptown has been wonderfully energizing and encouraging. We were definitely onto something that we’re going to park for now. I hope you will join me in offering support to the new tenants when the time comes.”

STAY TUNED.

For many remote workers, a messy home is distracting.

You’re getting pulled into meetings, and your unread emails keep ticking up. But you can’t focus because pet hair tumbleweeds keep floating across the floor, your desk has a fine layer of dust and you keep your video off in meetings so no one sees the chaos behind you.

It’s no secret a dirty home is distracting and even adds stress to your life. And who has the energy to clean after work? That’s why it’s smart to enlist the help of professionals, like Well-Paid Maids.
