“On Saturday, March 18, 2023, the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon and 5K will take place in the District of Columbia. In conjunction with this event, there will be parking restrictions and street closures that motorists should take into consideration.

When safe to do so, the Metropolitan Police Department will assist motorists in crossing the race route to help relieve traffic congestion due to the extended closures. However, motorists should not rely on crossing the route and should plan on going around the traffic closures.

The following streets will be posted as Emergency No Parking from 6:00 p.m. on Friday, March 17, 2023 to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 18, 2023: (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I wanted to give a heads-up to folks in the neighborhood. My girlfriend was on a jog this morning around 11:45 and was followed by a car (late model black sedan) as she ran up 16th street between Crittenden and Military. He would park at every intersection and wait for her to cross and he would drive by her and then go up a few blocks, turn right, then come to park and wait for her at the next intersection. “Dear PoPville,

There have been 3 occasions now where myself, my partner, and friend have had instances along 11th ST NW between Florida and Fairmont, where muggings have been happening.

My partner had an instance where a black car with tinted windows slowly pulled up, two individuals in the front, two in the back (who came out), assaulted and robbed him and two others.

“DC Health announced that beginning Tuesday, February 28, 2023 they will suspend the COVID-19 Test Yourself DC self-service kiosk program as well as rapid test distribution at libraries and senior centers. These changes are in line with similar actions at the federal level as a result of falling COVID-19 case counts and the increased availability of testing and vaccine opportunities through medical offices, pharmacies and community health centers.

DC Health continues to emphasize that the most important thing residents can do to protect themselves and their families from COVID-19 is to be up to date with their vaccinations and boosters. Update from the Mayor’s Office:

“Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser and the Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) announced that DC residents who own a 2011-2021 Kia or Hyundai vehicle are eligible to receive a free steering wheel lock from an MPD District station starting this Friday, February 24. MPD is partnering with Kia and Hyundai corporations to combat motor vehicle theft after a social media challenge that encourages using a USB cable to steal these types of cars led to a substantial increase in Kia and Hyundai car thefts.
