Ed. Note: As the current point person, de facto, for metro’s lost and found items – I most welcome this updated policy!!

From WMATA:

“Left something on Metro and need to get it back? If it ends up at Metro’s lost and found, you may be in luck. Metro will now keep a wider list of lost items left behind on trains, buses, at stations, and other Metro facilities.

The new policy, updates changes made due to pandemic-related budget constraints in 2021 that restricted Metro’s lost and found storage to wallets and electronics such as phones, tablets, laptops, and cameras only.

In addition to these items, Metro’s lost and found department will now work to also reunite customers with lost keys, glasses, backpacks, headphones, luggage, and purses.

Items such as perishables, clothing, umbrellas, and bikes will not be kept by the lost and found. Non-returnable items, and any other property unclaimed after 30-days will be disposed of, donated to charity, destroyed, or auctioned.

If the owner of items is easily identifiable, such as a license or tag, Metro will make every effort to contact the customer to notify them their property has been turned in.

Lost belongings may be picked up in person or you can pay to have items mailed.

Metro’s Lost and Found Office, which had been located next to the Hyattsville Crossing Station, has also moved to a new location. The new address is:

4000 Garden City Drive
8th floor, suite 804
Hyattsville, MD 20782

The office is conveniently located next to the New Carrollton Metro Station on the Orange Line and is open Monday – Friday from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. excluding holidays.

Customers may contact Metro to report lost items online or by calling 202-962-1195. Metro will work to reunite customers with their lost belongings if found. Items are typically turned in to the lost and found office at the end of the workday and may take additional time to catalog and process. View wmata.com/lostandfound for additional information.”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
