“Dear PoPville,
anybody else come across these Pay by App ONLY that make you pay for an hour minimum? What’s that about?”

Thanks to Jillian for sending from Petworth: “My roommate received the strangest note on his car. Since when is street parking supposed to be like this!? Plus, we were out of town for the weekend and he did move his car last week…”

“Dear PoPville,
Someone parked in front of no-parking signs for so long that they actually repaved *around* the car!
What surprises me the most is that the city (or the construction contractors doing the work) never had the car towed, even though it’s been easily a week or more.
Does anyone know what’s happening with all the road/construction work around the neighborhood the last 6 months or so? I saw one sign on 4th St SE saying water line replacement, but none of the other streets have signs, and have heard various rumors.”

Thanks to PN for sending from “next to Tubman Elementary (ironically.)
Today in cryptic street signs.
So does this means 24 hours? Or half a second?”

“Dear PoPville,
I’m looking for advice on how to win the second-level appeal for an unjustified ticket where my first-level appeal was somehow unsuccessful.
TL;DR summary:
– My inspection sticker had an expiration date of 1/5/24.
– There was some leftover adhesive on the windshield that partially obscured the pointy left part of the “4,” making it look like a little bit like a “1.”
– A ticket officer who saw the sticker in February 2022 thought it said 1/5/21 and issued me a ticket.
– I appealed the ticket, explaining the situation and including a photo of the (removed) 1/5/24 inspection sticker (which the nice men at the DMV Inspection Station replaced with another sticker with an expiration date of 1/5/24).
– My appeal was rejected.
My ideas so far for the second-level appeal: (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
A few months ago, my girlfriend went to go check on her car in Woodley Park to see it had been towed from the normal spot and city construction signs where her car was. She is 100% certain she did NOT park in the construction zone, but instead the city expanded the zone (or moved the sign) to now encompass the parking spot. Her car was towed to Conn Ave., which has limited parking, where it was promptly ticketed multiple times and towed again to the location where she was eventually told her car was. She is now “responsible” for approximately $700 in parking tickets.
First, we tried disputing the tickets through the DMV’s parking payment system. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Are there areas of ward 4 that dont have street cleaning? How do people go on vacations for a few weeks and not get ticketed?”

A reader sends last night from “around Vermont and T NW last night.” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
The zoo is now limiting the number of parking passes under their new membership plan.
Premier and up used to include unlimited parking
And apparently in October, (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
This morning PEPCO put up many temporary no parking signs on my block…. Only problem is the permit is for 3 spots on a different block, not a full street and not my block.
Do I still have to obey these?“
