“The Strand is Fish & Fire Food Group’s latest DC effort. As a DC centric hospitality business, The Strand was an attractive opportunity. Nestled in the quiet Deanwood neighborhood, The Strand is housed in an old theater that was built to service the fledgling, but growing motion picture industry. The structure and its unique intimacy were the trend in movie houses. Intentionally built in an African American neighborhood and focused on African American films, from the 1920’s into the 1960’s, The Strand was a vibrant part of the community. Unfortunately, as with many small businesses, it ran into trouble and has sat dormant since that time. Not anymore – FFFG is bringing its penchant for emerging neighborhoods and its hospitality pedigree to the Strand. We are excited to be part of the rich and continuing history of Washington DC!” (more…)

Last week we shared the update that ONGGI Korean Cuisine was gonna be opening this summer. Looks like their even more optimistic than that:

The liquor license placard now posted says:
“A Restaurant Serving Korean Food with 70 seats inside and a Total Occupancy Load of 110. Sidewalk Café Endorsement with 20 seats and a capacity of 30. Alcohol Carry-out and Delivery Endorsement.”

In October we shared the news about the Korean concept coming.
Stay tuned for an exact opening date, hopefully, this Spring!

From Cynthia Bar and Bistro’s IG:
“Today, we proudly introduce Cynthia Bar and Bistro, named in honor of our owner Phil Coppage’s mother, who exemplifies the spirit of warmth, generosity, and kindness.
So much has changed since Irregardless opened its doors in September 2022. What started as an exceptional prix fixe fine dining experience has evolved into a cozy and elevated neighborhood bar and bistro. While we’ve maintained the standard of our original concept, we’ve created a menu that embodies what we do best – beautiful housemade pasta, creative burgers, and shareable starters – while always offering vegan and vegetarian options.
